Designed on an ordered system of rectangular facades, giving way for recessed balconies and extended outward to express expanded interior spaces and views, the villa is surrounded on all sides with water features, pool and gardens. Extending the house into the garden, distinct spaces have been distributed externally –shallow water features, a formal lawn, a raised external dining area and pool – and then drawn back into the house through large areas of glazed openings. Internally the palette of stone floors, plaster walls and american walnut timber joinery gives the art and furniture collection prominence and focus. To give emphasis to these materials, as well as the spectacular views, “M” follows a minimal and recessive style.
